Meet Ngoc and Trieu! These two are getting married in sunny California later this month… but they made sure to have a little fun on the east coast first! And by little, I mean a lot. It was pretty much a laugh-fest from beginning to end.

Over the past several months, I’ve come to understand that people like to give advice to expectant parents… lots of advice. Feeding, diapering, naming, disciplining, how to approach labor and delivery, toys, clothing, books to read, books not to read, – the list goes on. On one hand, the sheer amount of opinions flying around can get a bit overwhelming. There’s so much we don’t know! It’s also confusing to navigate and process though opposing perspectives. On the other hand, we need all the help we can get! Not knowing anything about something is a pretty good motivator to get crackin’ and educate yourself. After all, people are just trying to help by sharing their thoughts on past experiences.

So where do we go from here? With just weeks until Courtney and I greet our firstborn, I’ve gathered some last-minute tips to help us (and all newbie parents) transition into the world of parenting. The best part? It’s simple, straight forward advice I’m pretty sure we can all agree on.

New Life…

I’ve always thought my life seems to lack many dull moments (which is mostly a good thing)… and as you may have seen here, that trend doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere any time soon. I’ve wanted to write numerous posts about our preggo adventures over the months but always hesitated when I sat down to do so. As newbie parents-in-training, this is our first rodeo and I’ve found it a bit difficult to articulate thoughts and feelings that I’ve never had before.

I mean, seriously. How can I explain Courtney and me crying over the sight of a plastic stick? Or having my heart skip a beat over the static-y, jumbled sound of a rhythmic whooshing noise? Take this picture, for instance.

Ridiculous. From a textbook photography standpoint, these pictures ain’t that good. Yet I melt when I look at them. I’ve never even met this guy and I can’t begin to tell you how much I love him. How is that even possible? And while I’m asking questions – How does something even go from being microscopic, to the pea-sized nugget in the first picture and then to the human being in the second in a matter of weeks? The game is changing and while I may not be able to grasp it all… I do know this: I’m getting to take part in nothing short of a miracle.

If you’re relatively new to the blog and don’t know, this is Courtney – my smokin’ hot wife. Doesn’t she look incredible?? This woman deserves a “World’s Best Mom” coffee mug (sorry, mom) because little Jr. kept her sick all the way into her 7th month. That said, she’s feeling good now and we’re in the home stretch with anywhere from 4 to 7 weeks to go! All there’s left to do is refinish a dresser, organize the garage and attic from the mess of the reclaimed 2nd bedroom, read a couple books, pack a bag, buy a few more baby supplies… and, oh yeah, the actual labor and delivery! That’s all.

OK, so we’re still a little ways away from greeting our baby boy… but that day is going to be here sooner than we know it and we couldn’t be more excited. Bring on the diapers, spit-up covered clothing and bags under our eyes.

Jesse + Alex // Style Me Pretty Georgia

It is with great pleasure that I get to announce that my work has been featured in Style Me Pretty Georgia! This actually compounds my previous excitement about this wedding because this happens to be one of my favorite weddings ever! Normally, I try my best to not play favorites… but in this case, I just couldn’t help it.

Meet Jesse and Alex! I’ve loved getting to know Jesse for the last… 7-8 years? That’s right. 7-8 Years because she just so happens to be my sister! Well, in-law. Jesse is Courtney’s younger sister and I’ve been able to walk alongside her through high school, college and now beyond. We’re so proud of her and the incredible woman she’s become. Seriously… artist, opera singer, linguist and (most importantly) a heart of gold? What more can you ask for?? How about a guy with an even bigger heart? Well, now she has that, too.

Jesse and Alex were married right in her parent’s back yard in Peachtree City, GA. Think southern meets DIY with a splash of vintage charm. Their wedding was nothing short of amazing! You can see their feature in Style Me Pretty here and an even larger sampling of images here.

Ifeoma + Chi // Austin Wedding

Ifeoma and Chi are back! If you haven’t had the chance to see their Houston engagement shoot, you can do so here… but don’t take too long because their wedding was even bigger and better!

I had the immense pleasure of traveling back to TX, visiting my family, eating incredible Tex-Mex and BBQ, and even reconnecting with very old friends… all in in the name of shooting yet another friend’s wedding! I admit, I can be a bit spoiled at times. Ifeoma and Chi were married in Austin with both the rolling hills of Westlake and the downtown/UT campus area as the backdrop for their wedding day. It was truly an incredible day!

The bells have rung, lights and stockings have been put back away and ornaments won’t dawn our living rooms for another 11+ months. Now all there is to do is bundle up and bear mother nature’s… 60° weather? OK, so if you’re like me, you may be slightly disappointed in the severity of this year’s winter. But cheer up! At least you can count on this blog to keep delivering warm and fuzzy pictures to keep your spirits up. After all, since when has the weather been predictable anyway?

It certainly wasn’t for this shoot! Introducing Lauren. It took 2 tries and countless weather checks to pull this off… but boy, oh boy, was it worth it. We were able to use the Atlanta History Center’s Swan House as our backdrop for Lauren’s senior portraits. Let’s just say all good things come to those who wait! Here are a few:

Happy Monday, blog readers! We’re right in the thick of this holiday season with edits up to our ears, more exciting news to share and only 6 days left before Christmas! All that said, I hope this time of year finds you well. So how about starting this week off with a beautiful wedding post?

Meet Courtney and Herbie! I had the privilege of meeting these two just a few months ago, and let me tell you, they’ve got southern hospitality written all over them. No joke. Sitting down with Courtney and her mother over coffee felt like catching up with old family friends I haven’t seen in a while. That is a rare quality! Throw in Herbie’s non-stop humor and you’ve got the makings for a pretty incredible couple. Here are some of my favorites from their wedding:

Meet the Jerome family! This group should win an award for braving a chilly afternoon shoot with not one… not two… not even three… but four children (the youngest being 6 months old)! How amazing is that?? And not only that, they made it look easy. We had so much fun exploring around Senoia and goofing off that, well, they made my job pretty easy too.
