The Slay Family // Peachtree City Portrait

For the record: I love a good barter every now and then. If you’ve been to my portfolio site, you might notice that there are no galleries showcasing family or other portrait photography. About a year and a half ago, I decided that I wanted to completely focus on wedding photography in order to better serve my clients. Enter the Slay family.

Tom is a good friend of mine who I know through the Young Life ministry. He also happens to be an excellent carpenter. (You can probably already guess where this is going…) A little while back, Courtney and I just so happened to own a kitchen table that needed mending. It was a fairly unique table that had been in Courtney’s family for quite some time and it needed an equally unique hand. It needed Tom’s hands. What was a poor artist to do? I suppose rules were meant to be broken, right?

I’m actually grateful for breaking my own rules from time to time because this turned out to be an incredibly rewarding shoot! We had so much fun!

Thanks for the table, Tom! Who knows… you might have reopened the book on family portraits.;)
